Needs Assessment for Certificate Courses in Genetics in Maharashtra

Material and methods Tool used was a questionnaire which was prevalidated by the departmental faculty and experts from medical education department with 10 items which included health science stream, their qualification, experience in their field, hours of teaching in genetics at undergraduate and postgraduate level, number of patients with genetic disorder seen by them per month, availability of genetic clinic, need of separate genetic department perceived by the health professionals, their interest in genetic training and level of training they want to undergo, timing of training and duration of training. The questionnaire was administered to the health professionals who participated in Medical Education Technology workshop at Pune Regional centre, Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The sample size was n = 138.
